International Understanding Day 2011: A Bot Russia!

Whoosh! IU Day was  MIND-BLOWING! To those of you who didn't get an oppurtunity to join us that day, this one's for you guys! :D

The event kicked off with two of our very own amazing singers, Yang Jiew and Phoebe's duet while everyone took their seats. Right after that, everyone was serenaded by the sounds of  violin that was being played by Crystal Gan and Shuet Ling with the piano.

Our emcees of that day, Crystal Gan and Arief took over the stage and the roll calls were made. Both of them looked marvelous in those winter clothes (Russia=cold country, get it? ;D) ! Then came the speeches by our guest of honour, Rotarian Hardeep followed by speeches of the  IU Directors, Regina Tan and Nicholas Elam Shah. Somewhere in between, the national anthem and interact song was sung.

And finally, its was time for the opening act! And so the they played the video and everyone literally rolled on the floor laughing! Comments like 'THE VIDEO WAS EPIC!!!' pretty much describes the video. :)  The main idea was for the interactors to crush in Russia and then explore the country. After the video, there was a short sketch. Suddenly, the crowd was suprised by loud marching sounds coming from the entrance. *thump thump thump* The army boys marched in all the way to the stage and perfomed one of the most MIND-BLOWING, JAW-DROPPING army dance ever!

Soon after that, Nasreen and another guy performed Russia Roulet followed by the groovy Latin dance. Later, a touching Aids Awareness video was presented and the donation box was passed around so that everyone can give as much as they can towards the cause. And since all us were starving, we decided to take a break and fill up our stomachs for some more action waiting in line! :D

Soon after, everyone entered the hall and the show began! After all the dance, it was time for some musical, the Nutcracker! :D And then came the street dances! First was a combined hip hop dance by the St.John boys and SAB girls followed by hardcore krumping that got the crowd all hyped up and euphoric!

They say, 'save the best for last'. And we saved the best for last indeed. It was time to put the runway to good use and let the models strut their stuff! It was an amazing, colourful and eye-chatching fashion show. The models were led by Nasreen and Wai Sheng.

Right before the closing cremony, souvenirs were pesented to the schools present by both IU Directors. As for the grand finale, all the performers, led by the Board of Directors from both schools walked up with heads held high to the stage and danced along to some songs.

To sum it all up, it was an AWESTRUCKING , memorable event for eveyone. Though it was not an easy job, we managed to pull together an awesome show which we believe eveyone enjoyed. Thanks for coming guys!

Community Service Project- Polio Awareness

The Interact Club of SMK Aminuddin Baki held this year's first community service project from March 21st till March 25th to help raise funds for the polio disease. This project is held in conjuction with Rotary International's 'End Polio Now' theme, entitled '1 Malaysia Helps End Polio'. Objectives of this project are :
  • to help educate the pulic about the tenacious polio disease.
  • to create awareness of polio among the people on Malaysia.
  • to raise funds for the people afflicted by polio around the world.
The interactors painted the walls with some useful information on the polio disease to educate everyone about this disease that not much people are aware of. We also conducted hand printing along the walls in Laluan Gemilang. Each hand print cost RM2.

Overall,  the project was a sucess. We managed to raise quite a big amount of money, thanks to all the students and teachers who were kind enough to donate.  And ALL proceeds went to CHARITY! :D

President and Vice. Hardworking eh? ;P

42nd District Interact Conference

It was a beautiful morning on the 3rd of Dec when the interactors of SMK Aminuddin Baki gathered at KL Central and took the KTM to Seremban along with a few other schools for the 42nd District Interact Conference. This year, the conference was hosted by the Rotary Club of Seremban.

The entire conference was held in the Royale Bintang Resort,Seremban. The conference lasted for 3 days and our schedules were jam packed with  talks on various interesting topics such as the Law of Attraction, Perceptions of Life, social network and so on. One of the many amazing events held was the Formal Night. It was an awesome night packed with many performances that kept us entertained thoughout the whole night. Towards the end, the dance floor was opened and everyone did not miss the chance of grooving along with the music being played.

On the 3rd day after 3 sessions, we packed our stuffs and got ready to leave. It was hard saying goodbye to everyone as it felt like we were one big happy family. :') After bidding farewell to everyone and promising to keep in touch, we headed back home with a satisfied smile plastered on our faces.

To sum it all up, the conference this time was a HUGE BLAST and very informative.  Everyone enjoyed every second of the conference and made many sweet memories. It was also a great way to meet interactors from all over Malaysia. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors, rotarions and everyone that made this amazing event a sucess. We certainly can't wait for the next DIC! :D
